I wanted to share this one last little DIY project before Christmas. I whipped this up in probably less than 30 minutes from scrap wood that I had in my garage.

My friend Sharon shared a pin with me of a pallet Christmas tree several months ago. And when she was here at the beginning of December, we made one for her.

How to Cut Apart a Pallet

I had the pieces all laid out to make mine for a couple of weeks and then threw mine together right before I had some friends over last week. Nothing like last-minute decorating. 🙂

Most of these pieces came right out of my scrap wood pile. I had to cut a few down to the right length and width. My nail gun wouldn’t cooperate, so I used my drill and a counter sink bit first. And then screwed the boards together.

And you could stop right there. It was pretty cute just plain, but I wanted a little something more …

I decided to stencil something, since I don’t have one of those fancy Cricut or Sillouette machines. Santa?? 🙂 Probably too late. He’s already in Australia by now.

And now it sits by my front door and welcomes our visitors. It also reminds us of the real reason for Christmas, which I like. I don’t want to get lost in all of the gifts and food and now remember what it’s all about. It was super easy and almost free (I had to buy the stencils and red craft paint).
