Homemade Lavender Bath Salts

The benefits of Epsom salts and lavender are so good for your body. Lavender Bath Salts are a great way to help you unwind at the end of the day!

So, a bath with lavender bath salts is great at the end of a long day, or any time!

Whether or not you’re a bath person, these little jars make a great gift or something to have on hand after the end of the day!

Homemade Lavender Bath Salts

Personally, I’ve been exploring healthy, natural health solutions. And I’ve been reading up on different toxins in most everything I consume.

This has led me to start using coconut oil for moisturizer and I just made some homemade body butter to use for lotion. I like knowing what’s in the products I’m using. I’ve still got a long way to go in replacing them all, but you gotta start somewhere, right?

Lavender Bath Salts

So, I decided to try making my own bath salts. Evidently epsom salt baths are great for detoxing the body and I know that Lavender has many benefits! It was super easy and only used three ingredients.

3 Simple Lavender Bath Salt Ingredients

DIY Lavender Bath Salt Supplies

  • 1 cup of Epson salts
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oils {I only recommend Young Living Essential Oils.}

Mix the ingredients together in a bowl and store in an airtight, glass container. I found my little half-cup glass jars at Hobby Lobby, but you could use any glass container.

Pour 1/4 of a cup of salts under warm, running water. Soak and Enjoy! {Use 1/2 a cup in larger garden tubs.}

The Amazing Benefits of Lavender Oil

I have used them multiple times since I whipped up this batch of bath salts and it was fabulous. I also let my 4-year-old daughter soak in the bath and she sleeps very well afterwards, let me tell ya! I just love my Lavender oil.

Other Essential Oils to Add to Bath Salts:

This recipe is so versatile because you can easily add or exchange any essential oil in this recipe. Often times when someone in my family isn’t feeling their best, I’ll whip up a personalized bath salt mixture for their bath!

These are some other great essential oils to substitute in this recipe.

  • Myrtle
  • Eucalyptus
  • Peppermint
  • Frankincense
  • Sandalwood
  • Geranium
  • Patchouli
  • Orange (Be aware that citrus oils make your skin photosensitive, so wait 12 hours after the bath before going in the sun.)

If you are looking for more spa products to create on your own with Young Living Essential Oils, then you’ll love this lip balm recipe. I share my labels and how to make them. I LOVE my lavender lip balm and use it not only for lips, but as a boo boo stick as well. It’s awesome!

This is another great lip balm recipe, too!

Again, I’d love to answer any questions or help in any way! Let me know if you need a bottle of Lavender oil and I can get you one!

  1. I noticed you said you had a Jacuzzi tub. Do you know if it’s alright to use bath salts in them. I’d like to start using mine with Lavender bath salts to help with Fibro pain. This would be great. Thanks

    1. You know, I never thought about the epsom salts hurting the jetted tub. I just looked it up and it seems like the salts by themselves are OK, as long as they dissolve completely in the water. I saw some concerns about the essential oils adding build up to the pipes and maybe needing to clean them out more often? I honestly will continue to use them in my tub, but you may want to call the manufacturer of your tub and ask them. Thanks for stopping by! I hope you get some relief from your Fibro pain!!

      1. Thanks. Looking it up hopefully would have occurred to me but when you mentioned it I thought first of asking you since you’d done it. I appreciate the info.

  2. I love lavender! This sounds great! I will definitely be trying this! Thanks for sharing 🙂
