The BIG Project: We’re Moving!

Ok, so I couldn’t wait until next week to share the BIG project with you all. I’m just too excited!! So, the BIG project. Ah … yes. My life is eyeballs-deep in this big project.
We’re MOVING! We closed on a beautiful new home this morning (still in the same city) and we’re starting the process of cleaning and painting the new house and then next weekend we’ll move all of our stuff. (My mom is headed into town this afternoon to help me clean and paint the new house – thanks Mom!!!!)
A little background …
Our current, too small for a growing family home has been on the market since September and we are still trying to sell it. I’m nothing if not a bargain hunter, and I’ve been looking at houses since before we put our house up for sale. I like to keep my finger on the pulse of real estate in the area, if ya know what I mean … 🙂
My husband, Coach, and I had some requirements for a new house: four bedrooms, good school district, large back yard and a few other little things. This one house kept popping up in my real estate e-mails because the price kept dropping. It finally got so low that I had to check it out. Turns out it was a foreclosure. (translation: tons of extra paperwork, but a great deal for us! totally worth it!)
We were not planning on buying a house while still owning another one. No way. No how. But, I decided to take a look and see the inside of this house. One thing lead to another and we ended up loving the house and putting an offer on it. We couldn’t let this good deal slip away! It’s only a few years old and in a GREAT location. (A location we thought was well out of our price range, and more square footage than we thought we’d be able to buy. Yay!!)
This move is really what inspired me to start this blog.
I have a ton of work to do on the new house. It’s all painted builder’s beige and pretty plain jane. I can’t wait to make it my own and document the process!

Here are some pictures from the Internet:

Obviously the front of the house … super steep driveway, but that’s the only negative for me.
HUGE back yard. I love it … and the views of the mountains in the background.
Living room – view when you walk in the front door
Kitchen. Needs much work. We’ll have to do something about those cabinets, counter tops and appliances – blech!
Breakfast nook. love, love, love all of the windows.
Dining room.
Master bedroom.
One of the other 3 bedrooms.
So, there it is! Our new home. It’s going to be a long time before it’s all just right, but I know it will be a fun journey. I can’t wait to blog about every little accessory and paint color! Thanks for taking a peek at our new HOME. (And pray our old house sells super quickly!!)
