I am almost giddy with excitement to share this little gift idea with you today! I told you that I am obsessed with all things citrus right now. That includes everything from decorating with citrus to drinking citrus essential oils in my water on the daily.
So, when I planned on giving my daughter’s preschool teachers a cup with a vinyl lemon on it, I thought it would be fun to include some citrus oils so that they could enjoy citrus-infused water all summer long!
Did you know that citrus essential oils are naturally detoxing? It’s yummy and good for you! I find that if I add a drop of two of grapefruit, lemon, tangerine, lime, orange or citrus fresh to my water then I drink more, have less cravings for sweets and just general feel happier and have mental clarity and energy! My current favorites are tangerine or a lemon/lime combo.
One note of caution: since citrus oils are naturally detoxing, they also will detox your plastic cup. So you want to make sure to only drink citrus-infused water in a stainless steel or glass container. This will keep you from drinking plastic toxins or running your Tervis Tumblers. 🙂 If you want to do an experiment, just for fun, put some citrus oils in a styrofoam cup and see what happens. *wink*
OK, so on to the gift idea …
What you’ll need:
- Citrus Essential Oils – (I only use Young Living Essential Oils because they are 100% pure and therapeutic grade. You don’t want to ingest just any essential oil. Be sure to do your research, read labels and make sure it’s OK to ingest.)
- Citrus Water Bar in a Jar card (free printable below)
- 1/4 dram Amber Glass Vials with Orifice Reducers (I get mine here.)
- Sample bottle labels (free printable below)
- Silhouette white sticker paper or plain ol’ sticker paper
- Optional: Silhouette cutting machine
I created these cute little sample bottle labels for myself in the Silhouette Studio. I used the print and cut feature to print the labels and cut lines around each little circle. But you can print them out on regular sticker paper and cut them out yourself or use a craft punch if you don’t have a Silhouette. (This video tells you all you need to know about the print & cut feature on the Silhouette.)

Next you’ll want to print off one of the cute “Citrus Water Bar in a jar” printables. They have instructions for using your citrus oils and they are just pretty!
Then you’ll take your little dram sample bottles, fill them with the citrus oil of your choice, or all of them, and add your labels to the top. Then put them in a glass jar, tumbler, cup, whatever. Just remember that your recipient can only drink these in a glass or stainless steel container, so that’s what I’d suggest using.
I think they would be super fun in a mason jar with a cute lid and stainless steel straw. Adorable! If I had tons of time on my hands I would put some together and take pictures just so you could see how adorable they are. Ha!
If you want to find out how I personalized the stainless steel tumblers in this photos, you’ll want to check out my “Have a Refreshing Summer” gift idea post.
I hope Miss A’s teachers enjoy these gifts as much as I’ve enjoyed using the one I made for myself. I currently am sipping on some water with lemon and lime. Yum!
What is your favorite citrus flavor? Do you love flavored water like me?
