Our Home-iversary {the first year}

| | | |

We moved into our home a year ago yesterday and it feels like I have a child turning 1! So, please go with me down a little memory lane. In some ways, as is any passage of time, it feels like we’ve been here forever. And then other times it seems like just yesterday. I think that’s just how life feels when you get older-ish (or almost 32!!).

As you know, if you’ve been here for very long at all, you know that I started this blog to document the changes in our new home. One of the first posts was The BIG Project: moving into a new home!

Here are some of the before and in-progress pictures. Thankfully I snagged these before pics from the online listing since I didn’t think to take before pictures before we moved in.

The living room hasn’t had a ton of updates yet, but I’m about to go kung-fu on this room … as soon as I get my saw fixed. (I know you’re so tired of hearing about that … me too! I just wish it was fixed.) I’ve been taking measurements for board and batten. And also testing out new walls colors. More on wall colors on Wednesday.

This was the living room in all of it’s Christmas glory. I can’t wait until we get new paint, board & batten, and more of us on the walls!

The breakfast nook hasn’t been through a whole lot yet either, but I did paint and just recently added a chalkboard.

I hope to hang some curtains soon. It just needs a little warmth and some fabric will take it a long way. I have some ideas rolling around in my head, but just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

The kitchen has had very little change, so no need for before and after photos. We’ve only painted it, but you all know I have big plans for this room.

Miss A’s Room is definitely the most completed room in the house. Of course she’ll be moving into a big girl bed sometime in the next year, so it’ll all change around at that point.

And then there’s our bedroom, which we’ve spruced up quite a bit. I still need to work on the other side of the room. Maybe we’ll get to show it off before the house turns two!

This was how it was set up when we first moved in and had only painted …

And this is what it looks like now. I still love my king size bed, PB Colette paisley bedding, farmhouse headboard and IKEA rast hack.

I still have a ton planned to do. You can check out my home goals post for some ideas of what I’ll be tackling. We actually went and bought trees for our front yard yesterday, so once we get those planted
we can cross it off the list. Yay!

I think it is so fun to see how people decorate and build their homes because it is (or should be) a reflection of who they are. It tells our story in a way, which is why I love what I do. I love telling stories through our home and I hope that keeps those we love coming back time and time again.

Thank you for being a part of the first year in our home. I’m hoping that we’ll have many more years to share it all here!

  1. I am in love with your Christmas living room!! It’s so gorgeous! And I love what you’ve done with the place – it’s always fun to take a trip down memory lane. And I did the same thing – took photos of our house off of the internet and forgot to take real pictures when we moved in, ha! I like that I still have some, though.
