DIY Winter Wreath with Bells (step-by-step tutorial)
Make a simple DIY winter wreath by using any simple winter greenery you can find! Add some pretty bells for just the right festive touch!
It’s time to start thinking about decorating for Christmas – and gather inspiration from the corners of the interwebs. I’m always down for making a simple DIY wreath for myself, and this year is no different.
I also find that making holiday decor that can transition easily into winter decor is my favorite. I might add some red berries right around Christmas – if I’m feeling extra festive – and then remove them after the holidays are over.
You can hang this wreath on the front door, or an interior door in your home. Either way, this wreath is perfect for now through the end of January and beyond! Let’s make it…

Supplies You’ll Need to Make a Winter Wreath
- Greenery from your holiday stash or from a craft store. I purchased mine from the Christmas section at Hobby Lobby.
- Grapevine Wreath Form
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Gold Bells (optional, but really make the wreath! They are usually cheaper here, but sell out quickly.)
- Floral Wire Cutters
How to Make a Winter Christmas Wreath
Please forgive me for not taking any photos of these steps. I created a video of the important steps, which you can watch below. But it’s really easy to do!
1. Choose Your Wreath Shape
Select the grapevine wreath you would like to use. You can choose round or square!
2. Gather the Greenery
Get all of your greenery together in one place and start to decide which pieces you will use. I used faux eucalyptus, winter evergreen stems with white brushed pine cones, cedar sprigs.
You could absolutely make this DIY winter wreath with fresh greens from your backyard. Add some twigs and pinecones, too for a beautiful live wreath!
3. Take apart the Greenery
Begin by disassembling the Simple Pine Branch with your floral wire cutters. Don’t make the stems too long. Keep them less than 5 inches long, when you can!
4. Place the Stems in the Wreath
Start sticking the stems evenly along the grapevine wreath form until you’ve used them all. Stagger the different types of evergreens as you go!
5. Continue to place the stems in the wreath until it’s full
Then I moved on to the next stem I wanted to use, and disassembled it and stuck it into the grapevine wreath until it’s full! I used all four of the winter stems and then just a few sprigs of the eucalyptus to complete the look.
6. Use hot glue to glue each stem into the wreath
I simply pull back the stems a little bit, add some glue and push it back into the grapevine wreath.
7. Add some festive bells!
Add seem pretty bells if you want to amp up the holiday look. I think this makes the wreath feel complete and it’s so festive for the holidays and beyond!
I love how it turned out and will keep it right here on my chalkboard through the holidays and into winter!

I just bought the bells! 3,sets. I saw your post last year and loved those belks. I was hoping to find something less expensive but it never happened I thought of those bells throughout the year so this year I made sure to purchase them . (After your post about things that sell out) . They came today. My front door has a small porch covering but otherwise is exposed to the elements. Do you think the bells Would be OK outside?
