DIY Headboard {master bedroom update}

| |

I haven’t been this excited about sharing a post in a loooong time. I finally made my headboard!! Are you as excited as I am?? I knew I would love it, but not this much.

Isn’t that your most favorite thing ever? ‘Cause I know it’s mine! I cannot tell you the satisfaction that comes from going to the hardware store and picking out a pile of lumber. And then working on it with your own two hands and creating something beautiful.

There’s nothing like it, I tell ya. Now I know everybody doesn’t have the money or the room for lots of tools, but I only used a miter saw, nail gun, drill and hand sander for this project. Four basic tools that I use on almost every project I do. If you have to buy basic tools, I’d buy those.

In case you forgot, here’s what the room looked like when we first moved into the house. Pretty blah … except for my lovely nightstands that I hacked. I still love them!

What a difference, right? It’s one part of the house that feels done – for now. I think I’ll always change elements in my home, but for now, this is what I’ve been dreaming of.

I recently bought a couple of new mirrors from Hobby Lobby ($12.50 each!! – on sale for 50% off) for my bedside tables. And the mercury lamps are kind of new, too. My bedside tables now look like a little blinged out tables with all the shiny, and I love it.

I bought the bed skirt at Target. I think it was around $30. It does the trick. So nice not to see the bed frame under there.

You may remember that I had some photos above the bed before, but they were really too small for the space. I had this painting above our bed in our old house. I loved it, but it did not look good with our old duvet cover. So, I just had it sitting in one of the other bedrooms. When I bought the new duvet cover I realized that it would look great with it. Don’t you think it looks good?

The king-size bed, the headboard, larger lamps and artwork all give this large master bedroom some serious drama. The room doesn’t dwarf the bed anymore and I couldn’t be more pleased.

Have you made anything recently that you just love?

    1. Hi Megan,

      It’s the Collette Paisley Duvet cover and shams in Cool from Pottery Barn. It’s discontinued, but you can probably find it on ebay. Good luck!
