Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened and slightly melted
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp hot water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¾ cup milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350.

  2. Lightly grease 12" round cookie pan and line the bottom of the pan with the parchment paper.

  3. In the mixer, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.

  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time.

  5. Stir in the vanilla.

  6. Dissolve baking soda in hot water, then add to the batter.

  7. Add salt and mix well.

  8. Mix in flour.

  9. Stir in chocolate chips.

  10. Put your cookie dough in the parchment lined pan. Smash the dough down into the pan until it's about ½ inch high. I put a piece of parchment paper over the dough before I smash it down with my hands to make it look even! Be sure to pull the parchment paper off the top before you put it in the oven.

  11. Cook for 20-22 minutes. The cookie cake is done when the top is golden brown.

  12. Allow the cookie cake to cool for 15 minutes.

  13. Then place the large cookie sheet over the top of the cookie cake. Carefully flip it over on to the cookie sheet. Remove the parchment paper from the bottom.

  14. Then place your cake stand or cardboard on the cookie cake and flip it over again. Now you're ready to decorate your cake!
