We got a new light for the foyer!! {And my soul leapt with joy!}
When we moved into this house 6 years ago, I vowed to change out this foyer light ASAP. To me, it seemed like a dirty bug collection bowl more than a beautiful foyer light. It did the job of lighting our home, but it was full of bugs and full of dust and too high for me to reach to clean it.

But as much as I wanted to change it out, the budget never seemed to fit that expense.
I even wrote a post almost 3 years ago sharing my top 5 favorite lanterns for my entry way.
My photoshopped pendant from 3 years ago …
I never pulled the trigger on any of them, because they are all between $150 an $350. There was one lantern that was less than $100, but I didn’t love it. I even went so far as to photoshop each light in my foyer and see which one looked best. My favorite one from that post was $250. {Although I just checked it and it’s on sale for $187 right now – LOL!}
When I discovered this 4-light Darlana knock off pendant lantern for less than $90, I was ready to pull the trigger right then and there. Sold!
I love the dark lines that give some contrast to the space and break up the round mirror and the round windows on and above the door. And I wanted something in oil-rubbed bronze. It tends to be the finish I lean toward around here. I’ll take it!
If you have no idea what a Darlana Pendant Light is, well you’re not alone. At least I didn’t know about them until a few months ago. They are these gorgeous lantern lights that are everywhere and super expensive. (Check this one out to see what I mean!)
Once I discovered them, I started seeing them everywhere in home decor and design. Let’s just say I’m not the most “in the know” when it comes to trendy stuff. I tend to see something I like and go with it. But these trendy, expensive lights are pretty and I loved that this one looked like them without the huge price tag.
My husband installed our new lantern a few weeks ago and I can’t help but stare at it when I walk by or when I’m sitting on the couch in the living room.
If you happened to catch the installation on Instagram stories, you would have seen our non-traditional use of a farmhouse table. 😂 We don’t have a ladder tall enough to reach the 12-foot ceilings in our foyer, so we moved the huge farmhouse table under the light and put our ladder on top of it. If you do this, I’m not liable for any injuries sustained, ok?? I’m not recommending this method, just sharing our redneck ingenuity for creative lighting installation. 😜

We use these frosted bent-tip decorative candelabra light bulbs with 25 watts for our lantern. It gives off a soft, clean glow at lights up the foyer so well.
It was just the update this foyer was begging for!

Love the new light.
I saw the first picture and thought “I LOVE IT! and then realized it was the old light. I can see where the new one wouldn’t collect bugs and dust like the old one–but I like the old one better. To each his own! LOL
