The Old House: Master Bedroom

The master bedroom. The sanctuary for husband and wife. Well, the forest green walls didn’t really speak sanctuary to me – more like man cave. 🙂 And so I changed a few things once we renovated everything and moved back in.

I didn’t get a good picture of the old master bedroom before we started moving everything out. But those are the forest green walls. Nice for a single guy. Not so nice for a newlywed couple.
New paint, new art, new duvet cover, new lamp.
A few accessories that I brought with me, including a mirror for the dresser.

Things I love about my current bedroom:

custom color for Palmetto Gray from Porter Paints

Mix of greens and blues – I love the green in the duvet cover and the vase on the dresser. I’m not sure what that color is called, but I plan on using it again in the new bedroom.

Things I don’t love about my bedroom:
The comforter – I bought this comforter because I liked the green and blue combo, but I didn’t see it in person before I bought it. (Retired Pottery Barn Fiona Organic bedding.) I never liked it paired with the art above the bed, or really the wall color. But I’ve been waiting to change the bedding because we’re getting a new king sized bed now that we’re in the new house. Hallelujah!!

Only one night stand – I can’t wait to have room for two!

Hardly having room to get into bed because the room is so small. 🙂

What I plan to change in the new house:
Matching night stands – I plan to do my own Rast Hack (probably very similar to this one from {A Charming Nest}). I already have the Rast Ikea night stands, I just need to change them up a bit. (Update: IKEA Rast Hack completed)
New duvet cover – something neutral, probably something from Pottery Barn.
Add a quilt to the bed
Change out the picture over the bed. I want to do something more like this with several pictures above the headboard. (Update: check out my pictures I added above the bed):

Oh, the work I have to do, and the money I’ll need to do it! I can’t wait to have the finished product.

(Update: I added curtains, too!)

I’ll cover the Dining Room next…

What is your dream for your master bedroom??
