I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a cleaning product. I mean, come on! Who likes to clean? Since I discovered this do-it-yourself, all-natural soft scrub, I’ve been scrubbing my white kitchen sink daily. So much so that my husband has started teasing me that the sink looks so much nicer than the rest of the house on a regular basis. He may be right. Ha!

Before I found this all-natural DIY soft scrub, my husband thought my kitchen sink was an off-white color. But since discovering this amazing cleaning product (made with only 3 ingredients), I've cleaned my sink every day. It's whiter than when I used bleach on it! Get the recipe via TheTurquoiseHome.com

Having a clean kitchen and sparkling sink go a long way to making me feel like my house isn’t falling apart, so I think it’s OK.

10 Ways to Customize Your Home on a Budget Guide Button

If you’ve been following along for very long, you’ve seen me post about taking a more chemical-free approach to some areas of my family’s well-being. I’ll be honest. We still have a lot of chemicals in our home, but little-by-little, I’m trying to replace old products with new non-toxic products.

So let me tell you about my new favorite cleaner that’s made from 3 ingredients and will whiten your porcelain or ceramic sink without bleach!

It’s been a while since I’ve seen my white kitchen sink actually white because I refused to use bleach products on it. I just thought that it was doomed to be stained and scratched up. My husband told me he thought it was an eggshell color, until I started cleaning it with this cleaner. Here’s my sink after I scrub it with soap and water …

There’s still a lot of coffee stains and scratches from just regularly using the sink. But not any more!!

This recipe will work on ceramic or porcelain bathtubs, sinks and toilets, too!

You’ll need:

1. 3 Tablespoons of Castile Soap. I use this kind, which I’ve found at Target and Amazon, and I LOVE it.
2. 1 cup of Baking Soda
3. 15 drops of your favorite citrus essential oil like Lemon, Orange or Citrus Fresh. Citrus essential oils are wonderful for removing sticky substances or getting out stains. (I only use Young Living oils. Find out why here.)

It’s so simple. You just mix all of the ingredients together in a medium size bowl. The consistency will be pretty dry and paste-like. If it’s too dry, just add a little more castile soap.

Store the soft scrub in an air-tight container. I prefer to use glass containers, because citrus oils can pull the toxins out of plastic and I’d rather not have my new chemical-free cleaning product be filled with toxins. 🙂

Take a small amount on a damp cloth or brush and scrub on surface. If the stains are really tough, let the mixture sit for a few minutes.

This ring around the drain has been there since we moved in and nothing could remove it. A little dab of my new soft scrub and some elbow grease, and this baby was looking good as new! This sink has never looked this good.

Now is it perfect and completely white in all spots? No, but it’s 100 times better than it was before!

Do you make any of your own cleaning supplies? I have gotten rid of so many of my old cleaning supplies, but I still have a long way to go. Next up? Laundry detergent!

I work down the street from Dr. Bronner’s, I should give this a try! I finally found a sink on Pinterest that even remotely looked like my sink! Thank you for the post.

I tried this soft scrub tonight. Smells so good and does a great job. I added some water and put it in a sqeeze bottle. Thanks for the recipe. I couldn’t be happier.

Just thought I’d let people know Dr Bronner’s soaps can be ordered directly from the company, and in these days of giants like Walmart and Amazon, I prefer supporting a smaller family-owned business. PS – this is just what I use for cleaning my sink too, although I use grapefruit essential oil, and I think that wonderful scent makes doing the job much more pleasant.

I love the grapefruit smell too and am making this today. I am sure it is going to be a great cleaner. I hate using chemical ingredients to clean my house. I only use essential oils and natural ingredients!! Thanks for the great idea!!!

Mmmm, grapefruit! I think I’m going to put some peppermint and grapefruit in the diffuser right now. Such a yummy smell!

I am going to try this! My sink doesn’t get white either unless I use bleach, but I really don’t want to do that, so thanks for this great tip!
