Christmas Tour 2013: Pretty in Plaid
One would think that since the name of my blog relates to the color Turquoise, then my Christmas would be turquoise. But one would be mistaken. 🙂 This year I just felt the tug to go traditional. I know the blogland is chock-full of beautiful hot pink and bright blue amazing Christmas spaces, but traditional just felt right this year. Kind of homey and cozy.
And I have fallen in love with plaid. If there’s a way to incorporate it or buy it for Christmas, then I’m all in. It just screams traditional, rustic & woodsy to me.
Although I’m still loving all things metallic too. I’m especially enamored with mercury glass this time of year. I don’t have it everywhere, but little hints here and there.
So cozy up next to the fire …
Pour a cup of tea or … coffee. And add some yummy peppermint mocha creamer {because that’s my fave}!
And settle in for my home tour.
Welcome …
And a night shot just for some fun with twinkle lights. My friend, Jackie, at Teal & Lime shared how to photograph lights at night. 🙂
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my home all decked out for Christmas.
You can find more details about my mantel, HERE.
PS. If you are on Pinterest, I would love for you pin as many photos from my Christmas home tour as you would like. That way you can come back and see it whenever you want. *wink* And I’m sure your friends would love to see it, too! Just let your cursor hover over the image you like and you’ll see a pin it button.
This design is wicked! Youu definitely know how to keep a reader amused.

Hi Laura, loved the tour…..I saw a tiny bit of your slip covered dining room chair with a tie in the back. May I ask which chair or slipcover that is? I am just on the lookout to update the dining room. Greetings from Christine at Little Brags
Thanks Christine! The chairs and slipcovers are from a store called PD’s in Franklin, Tennessee. They always have different selection and don’t have an online store, so I don’t think there’s any way to get anymore. Sorry that’s not more helpful! 🙂
Your holiday home is simply lovely! Makes me want to hang out with a cup of hot cider!! Maybe we can have lunch after all this craziness is over! Merry Christmas, friend!!

I am hoping they will have some leftover after Christmas… I just can’t pay full price!! Ha ha!! I love the simplicity of your home! It’s beautiful and calming…. exactly what this season is all about!! Pinning away!!
I love it all! I have been going a bit more traditional this year too. The plaids are just perfect. I wanted that car pillow from Target, but it was gone at my Target. Looks perfect in your space!

I love the traditional colours in your home! The plaid and mercury glass are so lovely together. Your dining room table is so beautiful. I love it all 🙂 Very homey indeed!
Oh my Laura I LOVE it all. I am absolutely DROOLING over those pillows!! They so don’t have those at the Target in Canada… I love the banner too, and your beautiful plates. I just bought those exact same chargers at IKEA – (I am so excited because I have been wanting them for so long). You are seriously talented at creating a beautiful homey space and knowing when to stop – just the right amount of everything so it feels beautiful, warm, and cozy without being overstuffed! (hmmm it always makes me think I need to pare back a little – lol!)
I love classic Christmas colors! My first thought was what a perfect bow on that wreath! and then looking around, everything is just perfect! I’m so glad you shared your sources because I want one of each of those pillows! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home, Laura!!
Beautiful, Laura! I love the plaid. Your dining room us my favorite, love the place settings 🙂

I can’t wait to incorporate more into my decorations for next year! Love how you always put such a fun spin on everything…even when you do TRADITIONAL you do it with such fun! XO!
I love the plaid and moose pillows on your sofa! Your Christmas decorations look great!
