Classic Ralph Lauren Christmas Decor

Get inspired by my Classic Ralph Lauren Christmas theme with layered plaids, rich colors, and cozy holiday touches that feel like home.

Every year when I pull out the Christmas bins, I like to challenge myself to create something fresh with what I already own. I’ll mix and match ornaments and ribbons from years past, then maybe add one or two new pieces to make it feel new again. Sometimes that’s a new ribbon color, wrapping paper or a special ornament that just ties the whole look together.

I’ve found I naturally gravitate toward a traditional look every other year with the pop of festive red that just feels like home. Then I’ll skip it the next year for something softer, more neutral or more unexpected.

Last year’s brown, blue, and orange Christmas was one of my favorites! I used a chambray blue ribbon, velvety brown ornaments, and dried orange slices for a cozy, slightly rustic twist.

That combination turned out to be a reader favorite, too, and I have a feeling it’ll make a comeback one day. I still love those chambray blues and will be carrying them into my dining room again this year, but my living room is taking a more classic, traditional turn.

Two years ago I did a red, white and gold Christmas theme and it was not my favorite look. But a few years before that I did a plaid nostalgia theme and I really loved it. So, I’m going to try to combine those two and add some new decor with it.

This season, I’m leaning all in on the Classic Ralph Lauren Christmas look combined with a lot of things I already have used in the past and I couldn’t love it more.

The Inspiration Behind My Classic Ralph Lauren Christmas Theme

Everywhere I look this year, I’m seeing Ralph Lauren-inspired Christmas decor and it’s easy to see why. The look is timeless, cozy, and full of tradition. It’s rich, layered, and just oozes that warm, fireside nostalgia we all crave during the holidays. I was already planning to go in a classic, traditional navy, deep red and evergreen colors, so it makes sense to press into this trend!

My interpretation of the Ralph Lauren Christmas style centers on deep, elegant tones, like crimson red, navy blue, hunter green, and saddle brown. Then, I’ll accent with heritage plaids, silver and gold metals, and natural greenery.

Its classic Americana meets English country charm. Think tartan fabrics, velvet ribbons, brass candlesticks, and little nostalgic touches like a Santa pillow or evergreen prints (stay tuned for my free printable in the middle). It feels elegant yet homey, like curling up in a mountain lodge surrounded by timeless, well-loved pieces.

This look isn’t about trends, because Ralph Lauren style is timeless, it’s about creating a Christmas home that feels collected, cozy, and full of heart. I really love pulling the navy colors into the scheme, which works perfectly with my Hale Navy on the walls.

A lot of this holiday decor is stuff I already have, like I’ve said, but my wrapping paper, the mini bear figurine, and tapestry Santa pillow all came from TJ Maxx. I haven’t shopped there often over the years, but I popped in there to look at their stuff and hit the jackpot! They had a ton of great Ralph Lauren inspired decor and Christmas wrapping paper, so if you have a store nearby, take a look!

How to Get the Classic Ralph Lauren Christmas Look

1. Start with a Traditional Color Palette

Ralph Lauren’s signature holiday aesthetic always begins with rich, layered colors, like deep reds, hunter greens, navy blues, and a touch of gold or silver.

Try this:

  • Use tartan or plaid patterns for pillows, throw blankets, or tree ribbons.
  • Accent with evergreen branches and pinecones for an organic, woodland touch.
  • Mix in metallics like brass candlesticks or gold-framed mirrors for that polished, upscale glow.

A little goes a long way — the goal is warmth and balance, not perfection.

2. Mix Textures for a Collected, Cozy Feel

To capture that Ralph Lauren vibe, it’s all about layering textures. Blend soft fabrics with rustic, natural materials for that collected, lived-in feel.

Try this:

  • Drape a plaid wool blanket over your sofa.
  • Mix velvet pillows with cable-knit throws for dimension.
  • Add a leather tray or wooden bowl filled with ornaments or greenery.

That contrast between soft and sturdy is what gives this style its timeless charm.

3. Style a Classic Christmas Tree

A Ralph Lauren-inspired tree should feel luxurious yet lived-in â€” filled with heirloom-style ornaments, ribbon, and warm twinkle lights.

To get the look:

  • Stick to a classic color scheme of red, green, navy, gold and cream.
  • Add velvet ribbon or tartan bows cascading through the branches.
  • Mix glass ornaments with wood or brass accents for that collected over time look.

Budget-friendly tip: wrap presents in kraft paper with plaid ribbons to tie it all together under the tree. It’s such a simple way to make your gifts part of the decor!

4. Create a Fireside Moment

Even if you don’t have a fireplace, you can still bring that Ralph Lauren Christmas coziness into your space.

Try this:
Layer candles, lanterns, and greenery on a console table or along a TV stand. Add a cozy plaid blanket in a basket nearby, and hang a few stockings or garlands for warmth and charm.

It’s all about evoking that same feeling, like you’re sipping cocoa by the fire, surrounded by twinkle lights and soft plaid textures.

Final Thoughts

This year’s Ralph Lauren Christmas theme feels like coming home to tradition, but with a little fresh flair. I love how the mix of plaids, velvets, and metallics creates a collected, cozy look that feels timeless yet personal.

It’s the kind of Christmas style that never goes out of fashion and is full of nostalgia, warmth, and that perfectly imperfect charm that makes home feel extra special this time of year.

  1. Love, love, love this look! I’ve pinned it for next year!
But, I also love the blue, brown, and orange look. I live near the water and I picture this with seashell ornaments.
