14 Amazing uses for Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender essential oil is known as the Swiss army knife of essential oils for its versatility. Let’s take a peek at all of the ways you can use it!
Lavender is absolutely one of my favorite oils. It’s one of the most popular oils due to it’s sweet scent and versatility.
Just recently when my family went to the beach, we used Lavender and other Young Living Lavender products like crazy on our sunburns. I got a little extra sun on the last day at the beach. Afterwards, I put undiluted lavender on my skin and it felt so soothed! I reapplied generously over the course of the next few days. My skin quickly turned into a tan and I never peeled.
I also use it to stop my seasonal congestion in its tracks. Whether I’m using it in combination with peppermint and lemon, or I’m just rubbing it under my nose to keep the sniffly nose away, I will never leave home without my lavender.
I no longer have to take over-the-counter allergy medication. Seriously, it’s one of two oils that I keep with me at all times.
This it what the Young Living Web site has to say about Lavender:
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has a fresh, sweet, floral, herbaceous aroma that is soothing and refreshing. Because it is the most versatile of all essential oils, no home should be without it. Lavender is an adaptogen, and therefore can assist the body when adapting to stress or imbalances. It is a great aid for relaxing and winding down before bedtime, yet has balancing properties that can also boost stamina and energy. Therapeutic-grade lavender is highly regarded for skin and beauty. It may be used to soothe and cleanse common cuts, bruises, and skin irritations. The French scientist René Gattefossé was among the first to discover these properties when he was severely burned in a laboratory explosion. Lavender may also be used to enhance the flavor of foods.
The many uses of Lavender …
- Diffuse at night right before bed to help promote restful sleep.
- Rub a drop or two on sun-kissed skin to soothe.
- Swipe a drop of Lavender on the inside of your cheek or on the bridge of your nose to stop a seasonal congestion spell.
- Put a drop of Lavender on an insect bite or bee sting to soothe and relax.
- Add a drop to a cloth and slide it into your pillowcase to keep little ones sleeping peacefully all night long.
- Rub a drop of Lavender between your palms and inhale to calm your emotions.
- Ingest 2-3 drops each of Lavender, Peppermint and Lemon for relief from seasonal congestion. {Only ingest Young Living Essential Oils.}
- Mix several drops of Lavender with whipped coconut oil to make a soothing cream.
- Add a drop or two to freshly squeezed lemonade for a refreshing beverage.
- Add 10 drops of Lavender to a half a cup of epsom salt and dissolve in a warm bath to sooth everyday aches and promote rest and relaxation.
- Massage a couple drops of Lavender to your lower abdomen, followed by a warm compress to relieve common aches.
- Add Lavender to a homemade chap stick recipe, or rub directly on to dry, chapped lips.

I would love to try the lavender oil. I cannot find any essential oils in the stores around here! I would like to use it to make my own cleaning products.
Hey Lori, the Essential Oils from Young Living are therapeutic grade essential oils. You aren’t going to find them in any of the stores. The ones you find in stores are going to be pharmacy grade, which cannot be ingested and are typically cut with synthetics. I would personally stay away from them. Young Living has a wonderful product called Thieves cleaner, which can be used to replace so many of our household cleaners. Check out some all-natural cleaning solutions here: https://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/home/natural-cleaning

I have a question for you…as I look at all your lovely rooms, I am trying to find your paint colors and am not able to find them. I love the color in the dining room, the kitchen and the master bedroom. Hopefully you can share those great colors!!! Congrats on the new baby, toooo!!
Hey Diane … I’m currently working on a post about my paint colors because I get asked about them all the time! 🙂 My dining room is Wythe Blue from Benjamin Moore; my kitchen is Stratton Blue from BM; my bedroom is Palmetto Grey, which is an old Porter Paint color, but it’s very close to Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware. I hope this helps! 🙂
