How an Oversized Floor Mirror Transformed Our Bedroom Corner
I love the part of a makeover when it’s time to add the last furniture pieces and finishing decor items. You know that feeling, right? The walls are painted, the big furniture pieces are in place, and suddenly you begin layering in those items that make the space feel warm and complete.
Our bedroom is in that place after quite a few years of planning, saving and intentional decorating. And I’m so happy with how it’s turning out!

After painting the walls Benjamin Moore Davenport Tan and adding our new chinoiserie lamps, the room was starting to feel cozy and traditional, but one corner still felt a little off.
I had a small floor mirror I bought in our previous home hanging out in the corner.

It worked fine, especially with the faux fiddle leaf fig I snagged from the living room for the photo. 😜 But, I knew this large bedroom could handle a more prominent mirror. And let’s be honest, the mirror we had was really suited for a smaller space and I had to duck down or back away to see my whole self in it.
So, I searched high and low for the perfect mirror to fill the space between the dresser and the column and I found the perfect one! Here it is now!

I’m so happy I waited and saved for the perfect piece, because the perfectly sized large leaner mirror was the perfect addition to this space!
Can you see how hanging the TV on the wall was also the right call? I love our Frame TV, and if you’ve ever wondered how to hide the cords, I’ve shared the tutorial HERE. Don’t worry, I’m also working on a large, chunky frame for the TV, so it won’t look like it’s floating in the middle of the wall for much longer.
You may be wondering which mirror we chose for our bedroom, and it would be THIS one!
Gorgeous leaning mirror
Capelle Mirror
At almost 7 feet in height, the Capelle Mirror makes a spectacular statement. The slender molded frame is hand finished with a graceful scalloped bonnet and notched corners that make the grand scale feel light and elegant. It comes with hardware to hang or attach to the wall.

Why I Chose a Large Leaning Mirror for Our Bedroom
First of all, our bedroom is huge. It’s hard to get the full size of the room in photos, but it’s truly a large room with an attached sitting area. It’s truly a retreat for my husband and myself, and honestly my kids love to hang out in here as well.
Choosing the correct size furniture and decorations for a space are crucial for having a home that feels intentional and well-styled. If you have 9-foot ceilings and a 16-foot wall to fill, an oversized 7-foot mirror is the perfect thing to choose to fill the space.
1. They Make the Room Feel Bigger
While my room is plenty big, and I painted the walls a darker brown color to cozy up the space, a large floor leaning mirror will open up any room that needs some help in that area.
2. They Add Height and Architectural Interest
Our 9-foot ceilings need something oversized to balance the TV and dresser in the middle of the wall and the beautiful arched shape with a gold frame adds the subtle architectural detail.
While the frame on the mirror leans a bit orange-y than some might like, it actually matched the color of my framed peacock art above the bed perfectly.
3. They’re Perfect for Getting Ready
Let’s be honest, a full-length mirror in the bedroom is just practical. While some may be able to fit this in their closet, mine is just too small.

This mirror makes the perfect spot to check outfits, see how shoes look with an outfit, or make sure everything is pulled together before heading out the door.
Where to Place a Leaning Floor Mirror in a Bedroom
One of the best things about a leaning floor mirror is that it’s incredibly flexible. You don’t have to mount it, and you can easily move it around until it feels just right. (Although, I always recommend securing the mirror to the wall, so it doesn’t ever fall over.)
Here are a few spots where they work beautifully:
- In an empty corner: This is where I placed ours. It fills the space without feeling heavy.
- Next to a dresser: A mirror beside a dresser creates a lovely little styling moment. Ours is also next to the dresser in the room.
- Near a window: Mirrors reflect natural light, which helps brighten the entire room.
- Across from the bed: This placement reflects a well-layered bed and makes the room feel even more layered and cozy.
In our room, the mirror sits between the dresser and a column, and the scale works perfectly with the tall ceilings.
Styling Around a Large Leaning Mirror
I like to keep the styling around a leaning mirror simple so it feels relaxed and natural. Just add a little something that softens the hard lines of the mirror frame and you’re good!
For this little corner, I added a lush green plant (peace lily) in a woven basket next to the mirror. I’ll probably replant it in a larger pot someday, but for now this one works! That pop of greenery softens the space and keeps the mirror from feeling too formal. And greenery is always a good idea in my book.

Some other styling ideas that work beautifully:
- A woven basket (with blankets or other storage)
- A small stool
- A stack of books
- A large plant
The key is to keep the look easy and uncluttered so the mirror remains the star.

The Primary Bedroom Progress So Far
If you’re following along with this room makeover, here’s what we’ve tackled so far:
- Traditional Bedroom Design Plan
- Primary Bedroom Window Treatments
- Benjamin Moore Davenport Tan Paint Color
- Trash to Treasure: Peacock Framed Art
- Primary Bedroom Chinoiserie Lamps
- Adding a Large Leaning Mirror (this one!)
I’m currently working on building a big frame for my Frame TV on the wall, and I plan to add trim molding to the walls. Then we’ll layer in more art and a few more finishing decorative details before this space is completely finished. I’m hoping to finish it by the end of the spring or early summer, so stay tuned! I can’t wait to share the rest with you soon.
