Spring Bedroom Decor Ideas: Simple Ways to Refresh Your Space

Once March rolls around, I’m ready to ditch the heavy feelings of winter. I’m ready to remove the heavy blankets and darker colors and trade them for fresh air in the windows, and let the sunshine back in. A spring bedroom refresh doesn’t have to mean buying all new decor either! Often it’s just a few thoughtful swaps that make the whole room feel brighter and more peaceful.

Our bedroom is almost complete, and I decided to add a few spring touches to it! Since it finally feels like it’s intentionally decorated and not just a bunch of random decor thrown together, I’m more inspired to add a few seasonal touches. I’m not going overboard, though! Just a few things will brighten the room and make me smile every morning!

Let’s jump in to some easy and quick ideas to bring spring into the bedroom!

1. Lighten the Bedding

It’s time to pack away the heavy covers and weighted blankets and break out the lighter spring colors or floral bedding. I normally have a blue solid duvet cover on the bed, which works perfectly for most seasons. But I tried this new toile bedding to lighten the bed even more, especially with the new darker walls. I love it for spring!

Another idea would be to ditch the duvet entirely and bring in a light throw for the end of the bed!

Tip: Keep the base bedding neutral, like my ivory quilt, so it’s easy to change covers and throw blankets with the changing seasons.

2. Bring in Fresh Flowers or Greenery

Nothing says spring like some living plants, or faux flowers if you don’t have a green thumb. I love both faux and real plants, which I’ve been adding to my home for years! Try a simple grocery store bouquet, faux stems in a ceramic vase, a small (or large) potted plant on a plant stand or eucalyptus or cherry blossom stems sprawling in a large vase.

I think one potted plant and one vase with faux stems is probably plenty for a regular 12×10 bedroom. My bedroom is a little larger than that with a sitting room attached, so I have two of each! The latest addition is my peace lily next to my large mirror. But I also love my large ZZ plant in the sitting room.

This large faux peony bundle is new, along with the medium faceted ceramic vase. I wanted a pretty faux bouquet for my dresser, and this one was the perfect addition!

I also grabbed an old bouquet I had along with a mint julep cup for a small vase for the night stand. I love the white and light pink colored stems for spring.

3. Refresh Your Nightstand

I’ve talked at length about how to style your nightstand, but now is as good of a time as any to refresh the top of your nightstand.

Start by clearing everything off and only adding back the things that bring value: a lamp, small tray for corralling small objects, a book, flowers or greenery and maybe a candle. I love my pocket watch clock because it one less digital thing in my life and I think it looks cute! (It even has an alarm clock!)

On my husband’s side of the bed, I try to let it have a more masculine vibe with a book, amber glass candle, potted plant and framed picture. But the truth be told, most of this gets moved to the side for his c-pap machine. 😜 I did put his cigar box underneath for a more manly decor piece.

A candle is a great addition to any bedroom for the romantic vibes!

4. Change to Light & Seasonal Art

Maybe bring in some small pieces of blue and white art, or a floral painting. If you have framed art on the wall, grab a free spring printable.

But, if you’re like me and have a Frame TV in the bedroom, it’s always fun to pick out a few new seasonal digital art pieces to display on the TV across from our bedroom.

This year I chose a sweet outdoor water scene with a couple of ducks. But I have a few favorites I rotate depending on my mood! (I’ve already finished a beautiful large frame for this TV and I can’t wait to share it soon!

I’ve gathered some favorite spring TV art ideas below, which will give you a good starting place if you’re looking for your own! The eggs or bunnies are so perfect for Easter!

5. Pretty Throw Pillows

I usually answer the question of “how many throw pillows is too many throw pillows” with “it’s never too much!” But honestly, in a bedroom 1-2 throw pillows is probably plenty!

Since my bedroom has an adjacent sitting area with a sofa, I have 3 different throw pillow patterns, with some duplicates. I love these particular pillows all year long, but the blues and greens really lend themselves to spring and summer!

I love repeating elements throughout a room, so I carried the striped pillow from the sofa to the bed, which ties it all together!

6. Let in More Natural Light

This time of year, I love to open the curtains and let the light in! I love enjoying the look of the outdoors – without the pollen! 🤧

And that means changing out any heavy drapery for light and airy curtains. Or, making the extra effort to open the blinds and pull the curtains back. Once the pollen has dropped, and we’re in the clear, hire someone to come and clean your windows. Or do it yourself! Either way, the clean windows will add to the bright and cheery spring vibes.

And whether you’re working with a small space, or not, a mirror is always a good idea in the bedroom! Beyond the practical uses, like an outfit check before leaving, it also bounces light around the room and makes it feel more spacious.

My most recent addition to the bedroom is an oversized mirror, and I love it so much!

7. Just One Spring Piece

If all of this overwhelms you and feels like it’s too much, then just add one thing! It doesn’t have to be over the top to make it feel special and seasonal. I really only rotated one piece of bedding, added some floral bouquets and changed the TV art. Everything else is the same most of the year!

So pick one of these to use and then call it a day:

  • Floral artwork
  • Blue-and-white ginger jar
  • Spring-scented candle
  • Woven basket with a throw
  • Small floral arrangement on the night stand

Spring always feels like a fresh start, and giving our bedrooms a little seasonal refresh can bring that same peaceful feeling into everyday life. A few lighter layers, fresh flowers, and soft colors can completely change how the space feels.

Enjoy starting small and enjoying the season!
