A Navy & Green Farmhouse Christmas Tree
This beautiful farmhouse Christmas tree is decked out in neutral ornaments and navy ribbons for a fun Navy & Green themed tree! I think you will love it!
Hi friends!! This little post has been in the works for a long time now and I’m thrilled it’s finally ready to share with you. I’m really late getting this out to you because …
- I was utterly uninspired at the beginning of the season to decorate this tree. I didn’t feel like going out and buying all new decor. I really loved my decor from last year. So, I used most of the same things and just added in a few new items like the “Merry Christmas” sign, new tree collar, tree skirt and navy velvet ribbon.
- In the past I’ve wrapped some boxes up in brand new wrapping paper and had faux presents under my tree. But this year I didn’t feel like wasting time and paper on faux presents. So, I waiting to shop on Black Friday/Cyber Monday and then waiting for my gifts to arrive and I wrapped them up in paper we already had from year’s past. I did snag a couple of new rolls, but I’m happy to say that my gift wrapping organizer will be less full at the end of the season than when we started.
Overall I think my choices to use what I had on hand and wrap my actual presents with paper I already had makes this my favorite tree ever.
And since you’re probably already finished decorating, you can snag this idea and put it in the files for next year. For example, pin it to a Pinterest board full of Christmas inspiration and just check back in next year when you’re looking for ideas!
In the past few years I’ve wanted to have a basket tree stand, but I’ve used other things like a galvanized tree collar last year and my DIY crate before that.
So this year when I saw a cute basket tree collar on sale during Cyber Monday, I grabbed it! I love it, but felt it needed a little something more, so I used my new navy tree skirt under it and love the layered look!
I did add some navy to the tree this year with some plaid navy ribbon I bought a few years ago (sadly no longer available, but I found some similar here) and some new velvet navy ribbon that I found at Michael’s. I think velvet is a hot trend this year and I hope it continues through next year because I really love it!
I used all ornaments that I already had on hand, like these DIY Christmas sign ornaments I made last year. Everything else has been collected over time. I LOVE the large distressed wood/white ornaments I got at Kirkland’s last year. I didn’t see them again this year, but Kirkland’s always has my favorite selection of Christmas ornaments!
I actually shared my Christmas tree decorating process over on Instagram stories {click here}. If you can’t see those, I’ll do my best to get a video made from the clips so you can just watch it here. 😊
The cotton stem and lamb’s ear picks are from last year’s tree, too! I love how they fill in any bare spots and I love how the cotton stems look like snow.
Oh, and I almost forgot! I added a sign to the front/top of my tree last year and thought it was so cute. So, I changed out my sign this year for this “Merry Christmas” sign from Hobby Lobby. (I can’t find a link online, but they have tons of signs that would look so cute on a tree!)
And then for the gifts, I used this new green and white wrapping paper from Sugar Paper LA at Target. They have some of the best wrapping paper in my opinion. It’s thick (not see-through), and has classic designs, which pair well with some embellishments or pretty gift tags.
My other favorite place to buy wrapping paper is here, and I love the Holly & Vine wrapping paper, the Watercolor gingham wrapping paper and the Wallflower wrapping paper.
One of my best tips about adding embellishments to your gifts is to use old decor or ornaments you don’t use any more. The green “wreaths” are the plastic garland you can find in the Target Dollar Spot. And then just used burlap ribbon to hold them on the gifts. I used old chalkboard wood slice ornaments that I made a few years ago. You can buy wood slices here and make your own. They are such a cute addition to the presents!
It was fun to finally finish my big tree this year and I really love it! I’m always a navy girl, so decorating with navy will make my heart sing every time!

Beautiful tree – I think the color scheme is nice but for a farmhouse look I would have liked to see some home made ornaments. This has beauty in full bloom but isn’t personalized to your family. Love your work though!
Hi Betsy, thank you! I made the smaller wooden sign ornaments on the tree. And I always have another tree in the living room with all of the family ornaments on it! So, we have that, too. 🙂
Your tree is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for sharing!
I was so excited to see this tree. I luv navy and wanted to see how you did it. Stunning! I luv the layered packages, it really looks beautiful. The sign uptop is not my taste…but, if it works for you…thats what its all about!
Keep on posting. I luv to see what you create!
Your tree is stunning!! It’s probably my favorite one I’ve seen on any blog or online this year.
Love everything about your tree and surroundings!
Such a pretty tree! I’m a red and green purist when it comes to Christmas decor, but I like seeing different color scheme and ideas. I adore the combination of greens and blues, one of my all time favorite color pairings! I say if you love velvet (or anything for that matter) use it whether it’s “in style” or not😊, that’s my motto anyway! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
